Christopher Nolan has never attended the San Diego Comic Con. Yes, this is rather like finding out that The Pope has never been to Vatican City, but rumors say that he might make a “surprise” appearance this year in light of creating his final Batman feature.

Take this news with a grain of salt (although it doesn’t matter at this point, since tickets to the Con are sold out), but Best Movies Ever News (via CBM) has an exclusive tip that Christopher Nolan will be surprising Comic-Con with an appearance.

“Warner Bros was hoping that Chris would take advantage of Comic Con 2012 since he’s never been, so it looks like there’ll be a panel with Chris, Tom Hardy and Anne Hathaway. We’re not sure about Christian Bale, but since this is the final Batman movie for them, I can’t imagine him not attending…but you know how Christian can be,” our other source at the Bros. house said. “Chris [Nolan] would love to keep it a surprise appearance, but in this day and age, it’s pretty impossible.”

Remember, this was the same site that had the “exclusive” that Spider-Man would be making an Avengers cameo (well, before Joss Whedon confirmed that it was in no way true), so extra salt might be needed on this meal.

If history is to be believed, Nolan won’t be making an appearance, and, although he screened The Dark Knight Rises last Friday for studio executives, it seems unlike Nolan to screen footage at ComicCon, but as it’s the final Batman film, an exception might be made.

What do you think? Will Nolan be there? Will a scene from DKR be screened?
