It’s really happening. Will and Grace is returning this fall to NBC. Watch the first trailer for the series now!

Will and Grace is one of many reboots, revivals, and re-imaginings to hit the screen in the last few years. Ahead of the 2016 election, the cast reunited with creators Max Mutchinick and David Kohan to film a spot encouraging people to vote.

The rest, as they say, is history. Talks began and soon the cast contracts were in place, Jimmy Burrows signed on to direct (of course) and the writers regrouped to bring the foursome back to life at NBC.

But what has been going on in apartment 9C since the finale?

After all, if we are to pick up in real time, Will and Grace are not on speaking terms. The kids are in the picture, husbands are in the mix, Karen is living without Stan and Jack is shacking up with Leslie Jordan. The show has always been like a fantasy though. There is plenty of wiggle room for them to make a sensible story.

And if anyone can un-write what the series finale did it is this writing staff.

Even reboots feel the need to get on the musical train. Ahead of the trailer debut at the NBCUniversal upfront, the cast took to the stage to sing “As if We Never Said Goodbye” from Sunset Boulevard.

All four of the stars are no stranger to the musical stage. Never forget that Debra Messing’s stint on Smash (RIP) used her vocal prowess alongside Christian Borle.

Eric McCormack took a spin as The Music Man on Broadway. While Sean Hayes, who is known more for his lipsyncing currently, never missed a chance to sing on the sitcom. And Megan Mullally has performed on the Great White Way, but also as part of her band Nancy & Beth.

Will the revival feature a musical episode? Here’s to hoping that they stick to another “Just Jack” cabaret instead!
