Will and Grace is coming back. Again! Find out what went into the decision to bring the series back for longer than 12 episodes.

Ahead of its premiere Will and Grace already saw the love when its eight episode order jumped to 12. And now, the series is not only getting four more episodes, bringing the total to 16, but it will return next year.

The series has yet to return to NBC, but already the execs at the network are confident that the show can sustain itself for two seasons. NBC network chairman Robert Greenblatt announced the news at the Television Critics Association summer press tour.

As reported earlier this week, the new season will undo the events of the finale. No weddings, children, or Kevin Bacon fantasies will carry over into the premiere of season 9.

Yesterday the cast and crew reported for duty and officially opened the soundstage. As the fearsome foursome returned for their first table read, the Mayor of Los Angeles declared August 2 to be Will and Grace Day in the city.

Eric McCormack took the mic to comment on his feelings about returning to set and the character. Luckily, Sean Hayes took care of any lingering first day jitters.

Will and Grace returns Thursday, September 28 at 9:00 p.m. ET on NBC.
