A new Shondaland drama is coming to #TGIT this Thursday, March 24. We’ve seen the pilot and want you to know why you shouldn’t miss The Catch!

The show centers around LA based private investigator Alice Vaughan (Mireille Enos). She is a partner at LA’s top security firm, Anderson/Vaughan, with her best friend Valerie (Rose Rollins) and aside from one case that is tougher than most to crack, things couldn’t be better. That is, until she finds out her beloved fiance, Christopher Hall (Peter Krause), who is actually a con artist named Benjamin Jones, has been playing her as a long con and has stolen millions from her!

Alice and her team at Anderson/Vaughan are putting all their skills and resources behind catching Ben and his team of con artists, which includes his actual wife, Margot (Sonya Walger). However, the con artists haven’t put all this time and money into conning Alice for nothing. They’re after something a lot bigger than Alice’s millions and they won’t stop until they get it. The problem is, Ben is a bit of a method actor and may have enjoyed being engaged to Alice a little too much.

If you’d be interested in a show about two badass women who are killing it as both private investigators and business partners, great! The Catch is for you. If you’d be interested in a show about a manipulative team of con artists who you love to hate because they’re just so good at what they do, great! The Catch is for you. This show is a fun game of cat and mouse where you never know who’s chasing who.

One of the highlights of the show is the team dynamics. Particularly Alice’s team at Anderson/Vaughan. It’s already obvious that the friendship between Alice and Valerie is going to be something that people go crazy for. Even though they are business partners, their friendship obviously comes first and it’s going to be great to watch their friendship grow through this new challenge, all while balancing their incredibly successful business.

The team doesn’t stop there though. The other two members: Danny Yoon (Jay Hayden) and Sophie Novak (Elvy Yost) are a high point of The Catch as well. They have some really fun banter between them but they also bring a lot to the table individually. Danny is the token henchman of the group (no PI is complete without one) who is willing to do anything to get the job done, and while Sophie is an innocent, law-abiding lawyer on the surface, she is also a hacker who used to work for Anonymous! With all four people bringing completely different skills and personalities to the table, the team as a whole is exciting and captivating to watch.

Ben’s band of pirates hasn’t been featured as much yet, but what we do know is that they’re extremely committed to their craft and excellent at what they do. Another thing we know is that we’re already terrified of his wife, Margot, who seems to be the captain of the ship. On top of watching Team Alice and Team Ben fight it out to win the game, it is just cool to watch the two groups in contrast with each other. One is built on a basis of trust and respect while the other is built on a basis of fear. Which will be the winning strategy?

The one thing we’re not completely sold on yet is the potential love story between Alice and Ben, but we’re still intrigued to see where it takes us. With just a pilot and so much story to unfold, it is tough to know if this is a relationship we’ll be rooting for or against as the game heats up.

Something we hope to see more of going forward is Alice take on more cases besides catching Ben. The pilot gives us only a taste of Alice’s PI skills and we’re eager to see her get the best of more criminals. It would also be interesting to see the con artists taking on other, smaller cons.

The Catch will be taking over How to Get Away with Murder’s #TGIT time slot on Thursday, March 24 on ABC, 10/9c. If we haven’t sold you on it yet, check out the trailer!
