We know Davina’s dead, and we’re supposed to believe that the ancestors have disposed of her spirit completely, but if you don’t see the death on The Originals, then it isn’t permanent.
Davina Claire has been a vital part of The Originals from the very beginning. She started out as Marcel’s little secret and has grown to be one of the strongest female characters on television. She never gives up, she never stops fighting, and she always finds a way. The Originals needs her spirit as well as her magic, not only to keep things interesting, but to balance the extraordinary power that the Mikaelsons represent. She is a force to be reckoned with, and we need to see more from her. Her story isn’t over.
Here are just a few of the reasons why The Originals needs to bring her back. This is one death that cannot be permanent.
We already said a permanent goodbye to a female character this season
Cami’s death was given the send off her character deserved. An entire episode was devoted to saying goodbye to the woman who kept Klaus from being consumed by the darkness. When a character’s story reaches its end, we’re always sad to say goodbye, but at least we get to say goodbye. Davina Claire did not get the proper goodbye. Her death was abrupt and unexpected at the end of an episode that already had us in tears. If Davina’s death is the best thing for The Originals overall story, we should at least get a chance to say goodbye properly. She’s too important to simply disappear. We’ve already lost an incredible female character this season. We shouldn’t have to say goodbye to two.
She is the only witch not related to a Mikaelson
When it comes to magic, Davina brings a lot to the table. She’s been shunned by the ancestors, so she exists outside of their influence while she’s alive. She could be a very valuable asset to Freya if the two can find a way to work together. Resurrecting Davina would go a long way to establishing trust between her and Freya. With those two on the same side, there might just be a chance to overpower the meddling ancestors once and for all. Ultimately, there will come a time when the Mikaelsons are going to need a witch unrelated to them, and with Vincent firmly on the anti-Mikaelson agenda now, Davina is vital.
There are far too few original female characters left
With Rebekah running off to be daggered every four episodes or so, Sophie having died in the first season, and Cami officially gone from the world, the number of female characters we’ve lost since the series began is dramatically larger than the death toll for male characters. Not that we want to lose any of the guys we love, but losing two original female characters in such quick succession seems like overkill… literally. Resurrecting Davina would allow Cami’s death to be more meaningful, and less than just part of a pair of deaths that left only Hayley standing.
Kolvina
While we did get a lovely moment between Davina and Marcel before she was used by Freya, Kol and Davina did not get a proper send off. Their bond has been enchanting to watch as she fell for Kol the witch, and learned to love Kol the vampire. We aren’t ready to mark Kolvina as a dead ship just yet, and we need Davina resurrected in order to keep hope alive.
Only she can stop Marcel
At this point, the only thing that the Mikaelsons could do to keep Marcel from ending all of them would be to bring Davina back. If Freya can right the wrong, maybe Marcel will resist temptation and not become the creature Lucien once was. Once he takes the serum and becomes the werewolf-venom spewing super-Original, they’re going to need to find a way to prove to him that bringing down the Mikaelsons is not in his best interest. Restoring the one person that has always been family to him would be a start.
