In July of 2011, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 broke many records. Now in May of 2012 almost all of Mr. Potter’s records are being broken. Many Harry Potter fans are saddened by the end of the reign. But, I think I have a good answer for why it’s ended.

First, we were and are a huge fandom, meaning most of us belong to multiple fandoms. These other fandoms include The Hunger Games and Marvel.

Second, the people who were not in another fandom are looking for something to latch onto to replace the void left by Harry Potter, so of course there is going to be a surplus of Harry Potter fans heading out to find a new book/movie to obsess over (The Hunger Games is a perfect example of this).

My third and final point is that some people just didn’t like Harry Potter. They did not go to see the movie wereas with The Hunger Games the book is still relativly new so not as many people say that they hate it. And the Avengers is still an action movie as well as a superhero movie.

I still wish that Harry Potter was at the top, but unfortunately it was a trend that for many people is over. But for us true Potterheads, we will stick with Harry, until the very end.
