When Calls the Heart is coming back without Lori Loughlin’s character.

Not only will When Calls the Heart season 6 resume on May 5, but Hallmark also announced that the show has been picked up for a seventh season. The announcement came in the form of a video from the show’s star, Erin Krakow.

This is great news for fans of When Calls the Heart, who have been desperate for news since March. The future of the show was uncertain after the Hallmark Channel announced that it was cutting ties with lead actress Lori Loughlin following her fraud charges and college admissions scandal.

The regular schedule of When Calls the Heart was halted as the network reassessed how to proceed without her. Loughlin plays Abigail Stanton, the mayor of Hope Valley, the town in which the show is set.

Now fans can rest easy because although Loughlin’s character has been removed, the show will return for a special two night premiere event on Sunday, May 5 and Monday, May 6. They can also officially look forward to more episodes of the show next year.

Hallmark has not addressed how they will be handling the disappearance of Abigail, so fans will just have to watch to find out!
