When Calls the Heart, a Hallmark Channel original series, may have lost Lori Loughlin, but the network doesn’t plan to cancel the show.

When it was revealed that Lori Loughlin had taken part in the huge college admissions bribery scandal, it didn’t take long for the scandal to impact her professional life. In addition to losing her role on Netflix’s Fuller House, Loughlin was also cut from the Hallmark Channel.

Loughlin worked extensively with the network, starring in several Hallmark Channel original movies as well as their series When Calls the Heart. Naturally, when it was announced that Loughlin wouldn’t be returning to the series, fans got concerned for the fate of their show.

Happily, Hallmark has officially announced that they have no plans to cancel When Calls the Heart after Loughlin’s firing. As Deadline reports, the network assured fans on Friday that though the show is on hiatus due to the scandal, it won’t be gone forever. “Hope Valley has many more stories left to share and we will let you know the details soon,” Hallmark promised.

New When Calls the Heart episodes have been pulled from Hallmark, and the network is exploring “creative solutions” to explain the absence of Loughlin’s character, Abigail Station. Additionally, the episodes already filmed in the series are expected to move forward without Loughlin.

It’s a pretty rough time for such a scandal to befall the western drama. The season 6 premiere was the highest-rated premiere episode of the entire series. It will be interesting to see where the show goes from here, and if they’re able to retain viewers without Loughlin’s character.

Regardless, it’s great to see that an entire show isn’t being canceled because one actor made a bad choice. Hopefully When Calls the Heart will be able to rediscover its footing quickly, and Hearties can get their western drama fix again soon.
