The origin story of Star Wars’ Han Solo is reportedly looking to add Thandie Newton and Phoebe Waller-Bridge to its cast.

According to Variety, Westworld star Thandie Newton is in talks to join the Han Solo movie.

This follows the announcement that British actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge, best known from the Amazon series Fleabag, is in talks to play a CGI character in the movie.

While we have no further details on the characters the two actresses might be playing, we fervently hope these rumors are true.

Right now, the cast of the Han Solo movie features just one woman, Emilia Clarke, who appears to have been cast in the female lead role originally intended for a woman of color (Zoë Kravitz, Tessa Thompson and Naomi Scott were originally in contention for the part).

The addition of Thandie Newton would be a small step in the right direction for a franchise that, while improving its diversity with The Force Awakens and Rogue One, has so far failed almost completely when it comes to representing women of color.

The Han Solo movies also stars Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover and Woody Harrelson. It is directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, and is scheduled to hit cinemas on May 25, 2018.
