Westworld fans won’t have to worry about saying goodbye to the hit science fiction series any time soon.

According to Variety, HBO announced on Tuesday (May 1) that they have officially renewed Westworld for a third season.

News of a season 3 comes just two weeks after the series’ season 2 made its grand debut on the premium cable network on April 22.

So far in season 2, we’ve been tuning in to see how Delos employees are dealing with the aftermaths of the big android revolt that occurred at the tail end of the first season.

Given that we’re only two episodes into the new season, it’s anyone’s guess as to what we might end up exploring in Westworld season 3. That being said, it’s exciting to find out that HBO is giving showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy more time with witch to bring us new stories from this universe.

In a statement announcing the series’ renewal, HBO’s president of programming, Casey Bloys spoke of how much everyone at the network is looking forward to brining fans more of the hit sci-fi series.

“It’s been an extraordinary pleasure to work with the exceptionally talented Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, as well as their gifted cast and crew,” said Bloys. “From the inspired storytelling to the incredible visuals, we are so excited to see where the next chapter will take us.

Currently, there’s no word yet on when we can expect Westworld season 3 to air. But if HBO ends up following the same trend, it’s likely fans will have yet another lengthy wait between seasons.

New episodes of Westworld air Sundays on HBO.
