The cast of The West Wing is reuniting for a special geared at encouraging the public to get out and vote this November.

In a press release sent out on Tuesday (August 25), HBO Max announced that the cast of Aaron Sorkin’s The West Wing are gearing up to reunite for the first time in 17 years for a brand new special.

Titled A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote, the upcoming event is set to feature a special theatrical stage presentation of the “Hartsfield’s Landing” episodes from the series third season.

Both creator Aaron Sorkin and executive producer/director Thomas Schlamme are involved with the project behind the scenes, which is being put on in an effort to raise awareness and support for the non-profit, When We All Vote. Co-chaired by former First Lady Michelle Obama, the foundation aims to increase participation in every election in America.

A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote will shoot over multiple days at the Orpheum Theater in Downtown Los Angeles this coming October. The theatrical stage presentation is also set to feature some new original exclusive material written by Sorkin himself.

Original series stars Rob Lowe, Dule Hill, Allison Janney, Janel Moloney, Richard Schiff, Bradley Whitford, and Martin Sheen have all signed on to reprise their roles from the episodes.

In addition, the special is also set to feature some special guest appearances, and a message from Michelle Obama herself, among others.

“Tommy and I are incredibly excited to be getting The West Wing cast back together for this staged reading and to support When We All Vote in their efforts to get all of us involved in this election,” said Sorkin of the project.

A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote is set to debut via HBO Max, though no release date has yet been specified.
