The cast of the West Wing reunited to film a promo to support the White House’s Big Block of Cheese Day open forum and it’s a gouda one!

West Wing fans, you’re going to want to watch this one! For the second annual Big Block of Cheese Day, stars Allison Janney, Bradley Whitford, Martin Sheen, Dulé Hill, Richard Schiff, Joshua Malina, and Mary McCormack came together to promote the event.

Big Block of Cheese Day became widely known after The West Wing used the story of Andrew Jackson’s 1897 open house where he placed a two-ton block of cheese in the foyer of the White House. He invited the public to enter the White House and help eat the giant block of cheese and mingle with upper level White House staff.

The West Wing‘s President Bartlet took the idea and created an annual event for staffers to go out and meet with interest groups who typically do not receive attention from the White House.

Be sure to check out The West Wing season 1, episode 5, “The Crackpots and These Women,” and season 2, episode 16, “Somebody’s Going to Emergency, Somebody’s Going to Jail,” to see Big Block of Cheese Day in action!

In the same vein, the White House today hosts a BYOC (bring your own cheese) online forum. The event will take place on January 21, 2015 and can be accessed on wh.gov/cheeseday or using the hashtag, #ASKTHEWH.
