Lizzie Bennet Diaries spinoff Welcome to Sanditon added two new characters in the most recent episode, introducing a new conflict that looks to be taking centre stage.

On the most recent episode, “Sit and Spin and Cycle,” Gigi Darcy (Allison Paige) and Mayor Tom Parker (Joel Bryant) introduced the Welcome to Sanditon audience to brother and sister Beaufort “Beau” Griffiths (Vaughn Wilkinson) and Letitia “Griff” Griffiths (Vanessa Lee Chester).

But this is no friendly brother-sister duo, instead it appears that the Griffiths’ have unknowingly opened up competing fitness centres literally next to each others, as part of Mayor Tom Parker’s plan to usher in the age of New Sanditon.

As yet we don’t know how much this new pair will feature, but given that there isn’t a whole lot more going on in Sanditon, we would’t be surprised if they stick around for the next few weeks while this conflict plays out.

As always, the Welcome to Sanditon transmedia team has all bases covered. You can find Beau at @SpinnerBeau and Sit & Spin, while Griff is at @GriffSpins and Spin Cycle.

Welcome to Sanditon is a web series spinoff of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. It is a loose modern adaptation of Jane Austen’s unfinished novel Sanditon, and features numerous transmedia elements.

Neither Griff nor Beau have been pulled straight from the pages of Sanditon. The only connection to Austen’s work is to a Mrs. Griffiths.

Until now, Welcome to Sanditon has only shown four different characters on screen, while making use of various twitter accounts to represent numerous other characters mentioned by Austen.

Welcome to Sanditon has been freer with their interpretation than The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, however this is more out of necessity than anything else. Austen’s unfinished manuscript established the town of Sanditon in some detail, but included very little plot.
