When you think of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s modern classic musical Hamilton, you don’t really think of polka, but ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic’s new mashup of Hamiltunes proves the two go together perfectly.

Lin-Manuel Miranda has been releasing mixtapes and singles of artists covering his now-iconic songs from Hamilton. While he’s obviously had rap, hip-hop, and R&B artists cover the songs from the show, he’s also partnered with artists who are outside of the musical’s hip-hop origins like Regina Spektor, Ben Folds, Kelly Clarkson, and even Jimmy Fallon.

Of all the artists featured on the Hamilton mixtape and subsequent, monthly #Hamildrops (where Miranda releases new songs each month), none have been as surprising as the latest single. Miranda partnered with comedy legend ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic who created a polka mashup of some of Hamilton‘s most iconic tunes.

It’s not wholly surprising to see Miranda partner with Yankovic. He’s stated in interviews before how much he admires Yankovic’s work and has told stories of having zero chill on the occasion of their first meeting.

Still, a polka mashup of Hamilton tunes? I don’t care how brilliant Weird Al is, this mashup should have been a complete disaster. However, I am happy to report that it just might be the best damn thing ever.

Yankovic has been teasing a new single for a while now, but fans didn’t initially connect the new single with Miranda’s much-advertised February Hamildrop. The single released at midnight on “February 30” as Miranda called it, and it turns out that the songs from Hamilton blend perfectly with Yankovic’s trademark, zany, polka style.

The song is available on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Google Play, YouTube, and just about anywhere else you like to digitally get your tunes. Happy February 30th!
