This week, an update on the Paranormal Activity 4 directors, Emma Stone (The Help) gets cast in a new role, Paramount wants a trilogy made out of the Brad Pitt-starring zombie film World War Z, and much more.

Here’s some news from the week of January 2 through January 8, 2012:

  • Bloody-Disgusting reported that Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, directors of Paranormal Activity 4 would return to helm the next installment in the franchise, due out in October.
  • Deadline is reporting that Emma Stone (The Help) is attached to star in Little White Corvette, in which she’ll reportedly play a drug dealer.
  • According to Vulture, Matt Damon is no longer set to make his directorial debut on the as-of-yet untitled film he wrote with author Dave Eggers (Where The Wild Things Are), now Gus Van Sant has signed on to direct the film. Van Sant previously directed the Matt Damon-penned Good Will Hunting.
  • The LA Times is reporting that Paramount wants to turn the Brad Pitt zombie-apocalypse vehicle World War Z into a trilogy, despite the film not opening for several months.
  • The Wettest County, starring Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises), Shia Labeouf (Transformers), Jessica Chastain (The Help), Gary Oldman (Harry Potter), and many others, has been pushed from its April 2012 release date, back until Labor Day in August, according to The LA Times. In explanation, Harvey Weinstein stated the film simply isn’t ready for the original release date.
  • Finally, THR is reporting that Paul Haggis, director of the Oscar-winner Crash, is set to direct the Canadian film Paris. Not much is known about the project as of yet.
