With lots of political news to write jokes about for the foreseeable future, NBC is reportedly considering turning SNL’s Weekend Update into a full show.

Politico says NBC is currently “in talks” to run a 30-minute Weekend Update on Thursdays, presumably starring Colin Jost, Michael Che, and recurring guest characters.

The lengthy segment is a staple of SNL. NBC has found success in amping up the amount of Weekend Update before: on occasion they’ve broadcast special episodes of the segment on the network in the middle of the week.

Saturday Night Live has recently enjoyed a ratings boost thanks to the publicity surrounding Alec Baldwin’s Donald Trump impression. Last weekend they expanded their political parody arsenal by getting Melissa McCarthy to play White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer.

This weekend SNL will be hosted by Alec Baldwin. It’ll be the actor’s 17th time hosting the show — a series record.

Three guesses as to who he’ll be parodying at least once during the episode.
