Shocker! The weekend box-office tally is in and it’s a record breaker, which is extremely rare given it’s during the usually tepid February movie season. As expected, The Vow has been crowned victorious for the pre-Valentines Day weekend, although this marks the first non-holiday weekend where four films have opened to $20 million-plus. Read on to see how the top five shaped up!

Here’s the impressive top five from this weekend:

1. The Vow – $41.7 million – Newcomer | 27%
2. Safe House – $39.3 million – Newcomer | 52%
3. Journey 2: The Mysterious Island – $27.5 million – Newcomer | 43%
4. Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace 3D – $23 million – Newcomer | 57%
5. Chronicle – $12.3 million (-44.1%) – Week Two | 85%

This box-office would be impressive mid-July, let alone the second weekend of February where all four wide-releases were deemed “rotten.” Were you able to see any of these films at the theater this weekend?
