It was a tight race for box-office gold this weekend, as we saw Real Steel fending off newcomer Footloose to recapture its crown amidst a tepid turnout at the weekend box-office.

Here’s how the top 5 at the box-office turned out:

1. Real Steel – $16.3 million (-40.3%) – Week Two | 60%
2. Footloose – $16.1 million – Newcomer | 73%
3. The Thing – $8.7 million – Newcomer | 33%
4. The Ides of March – $7.5 million (-27.9%) – Week Two | 83%
4. Dolphin Tale – $6.3 million (-30.8%) – Week Four | 83%

The call at the top is a close one, as Real Steel saw an excellent holdover, only dropping 40%, from what was great word-of-mouth. It will be interesting to see if Footloose can manage to shock the industry and take the top slot by the time weekend actuals come out Monday morning.
