We learned in November that Showtime had decided to pick up Weeds for an eighth season (despite strong rumors suggesting the show was finished at 7), but news about the show since then has been slow.

Today lead actress Mary-Louise Parker is talking about who she would like to see return in future episodes.

Parker told E! Online:

“I would love for Martin Short to come back, and Albert Brooks. There have been so many great people that have come on and some dead people that I wish could come back.” As for this being the last season? “I don’t know—there is only so much longer that I could be wearing cutoffs and cowboy boots.” Parker told us with a laugh. “But I love doing it right now.”

Many fans – past and present – have said that Weeds has run its course. Even this writer will admit that season 7 was not its strongest, partially due to its New York setting. However, the finale made clear that Nancy and the Botwins were planning to settle into the suburbs again, so we’re hold out hope for a back-to-roots season.
