Weeds star Hunter Parrish has just landed the role of Jesus in an upcoming Broadway revival of “Godspell.” Parrish is best known for his work as “Silas Botwin” in Showtime’s hit series, and his name was mentioned as a fan favorite for the character “Peeta Mellark” in  The Hunger Games (a part which later went to Josh Hutcherson, of course). but this fall, he’ll be attempting to wow theater audiences.

Parrish is quoted to say the following about this news:

“I am elated to be joining the ‘Godspell’ family, and honored to be a part of bringing this thrilling classic back to Broadway . . . I knew after meeting with the creative team that I was going to be a part of something really exciting. I can’t wait to get started.”

Additionally, according to The Wrap, Parrish has also been cast in “Spring Awakening.”

Performances of “Godspell” will begin on October 13 for preview audience, and opening night will be November 7th.

What do you think of Hunter Parrish being cast as the huge leading role in “Godspell?” Look forward to seeing what he’s got on-stage?
