The first trailer for director Robert Zemeckis’ The Witches adaptation is here, and it’s bound to make you excited for the movie!

Roald Dahl’s The Witches will soon be gracing your screens once more— this time win an all new movie adapted for the screen by Academy Award winning director Robert Zemeckis.

Based on Dahl’s beloved children’s book, The Witches tells the story of a young boy who has the misfortune of stumbling upon a witch coven. After discovering their master plan to rid England of all of it’s children, the boy sets out to stop the witches before it’s too late.

Zemeckis has lined up a star-studded cast to bring Dahl’s 1973 classic to life, which includes the likes of Oscar winner Anne Hathaway, who delivers a wicked performance in the trailer as the grand high witch.

Also featured in the The Witches trailer is Hathaway’s co-star, and fellow Oscar winner Octavia Spencer. Spencer plays Grandmother, who must help her grandson after he gets turned into a mouse as a byproduct of the grand high witch’s evil plan.

Others who also star in the adaptation are Stanley Tucci, Kristin Chenoweth, Chris Rock, and newcomers Jahzir Kadeem Bruno and Codie-Lei Eastick.

Behind the camera, Zemeckis teamed up with Black-ish creator Kenya Barris and Academy Award winner Guillermo del Toro to write the screenplay for the movie. Producer on the project include Jack Rapke, del Toro, Alfonso Cuarón and Luke Kelly.

The film was originally set to debut in theaters on October 16. Given the ongoing coronavirus pandemic however, Warner Bros., has changed course. Instead the film will now debut via HBO Max at the end of the month.

The Witches debuts exclusively via HBO Max on October 22.
