Zack Snyder’s film adaptation of Watchmen in 2009 was a pretty big hit, and had a unique style that Zack Snyder has become known for throughout the last few years. Now he’s reportedly working with HBO to create a television adaptation.

Alan Moore’s highly acclaimed comic book series, Watchmen, was adapted by Snyder six years ago into an amazing film. Now, according to Collider it looks like the director has decided to keep the story going by working with HBO on a TV series that could bring HBO into the comic book TV adaptation age.

While the film didn’t have great numbers at the box office, it was widely praised as being unique, something we desperately need during a time where every few weekends a new comic book movie hits theaters.

Collider’s sources told them the meetings about adapting the DC property have already begun, but they don’t yet know whether the TV series would be a sequel, prequel, or even a reimagining of the film.

Snyder will obviously want to see something similar to his film adaptation, but we’re curious if he’ll just be a producer who possibly directs an episode every so often. He’s incredibly busy right now with Batman v Superman, and then he’ll have Justice League to focus on.

The report suggests that HBO is “notoriously difficult to predict” until an announcement is made, so it’s unclear if we’ll know anything for certain until the adaptation is greenlit. They’ve had difficulties reaching budgets with other famous directors, and ended up shutting down projects, so we look forward to finding out if this ends up happening.
