Ubisoft’s Watch_Dogs features a unique multiplayer element, one which was displayed at San Diego Comic-Con 2013.

As players run around hacking technology in Ubisoft’s third-person shooter Watch_Dogs, they’ll be randomly hacked by other online players.

This element will only be available to players who are both connected to the Internet and are playing the single player compaign.

A gameplay demo video shown by Ubisoft of Watch_Dogs played out this exact inter-player hacking scenario. In the video, Aiden found an intruder, and was given the choice between either stopping the hacking, or bounty hunting the intruder. During the next portion of the demo, a car chase took place. The scenario ended with the online player escaping from Aiden’s fury.

Things got even crazier when Aiden warped to the location of the opposing player. Blending into the crowd as a NPC, Aiden snuck up on the opposing player and assassinated them.

On top of showing how players will interact with each other over the Internet, this demo also showed off more of how Aiden will hack into his surrounding environment. Some neat examples of such were of a forklift and security cameras.

Unfortunately, there wasn’t any new information about the hotly anticipated Ubisoft blockbuster revealed in the demo video.

Watch_Dogs was not available to play at San Diego Comic-Con 2013.

For those who aren’t familiar with the premise of Watch_Dogs, it follows tech hacking and gun slinging Aiden as he travels through a crime-ridden Chicago in the near future.

By using his hacking skills, Aiden is able to thwart enemies from all walks of life with the simple tap of a button on his smartphone.
