This isn’t a re-release of a 1920’s era silent film, this is a 2011 era silent film. It was previously exhibited at the Cannes film festival where it received a twelve minute standing ovation. In short, this is a huge movie to watch out for this Oscar season.

In a theater populated by 3D, CGI and motion capture suits, one would imagine that audiences would find a silent film dull in this day and age.

These audiences haven’t seen the trailer for The Artist. Check out the trailer below and see what all the fuss is about.

So what do you think? Are you excited to see an old-school film in a new-school time? Do you think that this Cannes baby could make a jump at the Oscars? It was bought by the Weinstein Company, a distributor who is known for getting its pictures noticed on Oscar night, so it would be very possible to see a silent film make a splash at the Oscars.

The Artist will hit theaters on November 23.
