The first official trailer for Margaret, a story chronicling the titular character (True Blood’s Anna Paquin) who believes she’s is the cause of a horrific accident, is now online!

While filming on Kenneth Lonergan’s Margaret wrapped six years ago, the film, which co-stars Matt Damon (The Bourne Identity), Mark Ruffalo (Shutter Island), Matthew Broderick (The Producers), and Jean Reno (The Da Vinci Code), is just getting a release later this month due to a long journey of continuous editing and tinkering by the likes of Martin Scorsese, the late Sydney Pollack, famed producer Scott Rudin and many more.

Margaret centers on a 17-year-old New York City high-school student who feels certain that she inadvertently played a role in a traffic accident that has claimed a woman’s life. In her attempts to set things right she meets with opposition at every step. Torn apart with frustration, she begins emotionally brutalizing her family, her friends, her teachers, and most of all, herself. She has been confronted quite unexpectedly with a basic truth: that her youthful ideals are on a collision course against the realities and compromises of the adult world.

Word is that the original script of this film is superb, which makes us hope that the long delay in release has not doomed the film. What do you think? Will you be seeing this one when it’s released September 30?
