Dan Stevens and Michael Sheen are in Netflix’s new horror thriller, Apostle, and the first trailer has got us ready for a creepy ride.

October is getting closer every day, which means we’re getting closer and closer to Halloween season. To help us get in the spooky spirit, Netflix has released a trailer for its new horror thriller, Apostle, starring Dan Stevens and Michael Sheen.

Apostle is written by Gareth Edwards and is set in London in 1905. The movie follows a young man named Thomas Richardson (Stevens) who sets out to rescue his sister from the grasp of a religious cult that has ransomed her. When Thomas travels to the remote group, he finds that though the cult’s leader, Prophet Malcolm (Michael Sheen), created a community that rejected many “societal norms” of life in London, the corruption, violence, and danger the group sought to escape has infiltrated the community nonetheless.

Thomas is set on a wild ride to fight for the survival of his sister and himself in the wake of the cult’s dangerous ideology and violent practices. The trailer might only be a couple of minutes long, but it’s so jam-packed with psychological horror, gore, and classic horror elements that Apostle should definitely earn a place on your Halloween watch list.

If you’re attending Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas, you’ll get a chance to check out this film before the rest of us. Apostle will be screened at Fantastic Fest on Friday, September 21, and it will widely release on Netflix on October 12.
