With the Les Miserables DVD/Blu-ray due out later this month, we’re now getting a few sneak peeks at the film’s bonus features.

One of them is a great, inside look at the cast members doing their vocal warm-ups.

As you may know, the vocals in Les Miserables were recorded live as they filmed the actual movie. It’s the first for a major film production; normally the cast pre-record their vocals and then lip sync when they’re in front of the cameras. A highlight in this preview is at the start when Eddie Redmayne shows his method:

In a second preview of the bonus features we see how the barricade was built. In this video, we learn that there was one “hectic” day where director Tom Hooper let the cameras keep rolling as the cast built a barricade themselves. “The plan was we’d build a little bit of barricade, and over the weekend [crew] would come in and conjure up” a more steady and camera-ready barricade. However, the cast had built such a great barricade that, according to Redmayne, the crew only had to pin the cast-made barricade together with nails so it wouldn’t move.

The Les Miserables DVD/Blu-ray will be released in North American on March 22. U.S. retailer Target is offering up the best version of the home release: 40 minutes of exclusive bonus content.

We’ll continue to keep an eye out for bonus features as they’re revealed online! We’ll also have a review of the Les Miserables DVD/Blu-ray before its release.
