Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 3, “The Asset” airs tomorrow night, and now ABC has released the first few minutes of what looks like a gripping episode.
In the opening sequence, a seemingly-ordinary truck driver drives his seemingly-ordinary cargo to an unknown destination. But once invisible hands seize and destroy several SUVs protectively trailing the truck, it becomes evident that there is nothing ordinary about this trip. As things go from bad to worse, the trucker is revealed to be a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent on an important mission – a mission which becomes clear as armed men break through a safe in the wreckage of the truck and discover a bound and bemused Dr. Franklin Hall.
The whereabouts of Dr. Hall (Ian Hart) appear to be the major engine for the plot of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 3. The summary for “The Asset” says:
When the brilliant scientist Dr. Franklin Hall is kidnapped, Agent Coulson and his S.H.I.E.L.D. agents must race against the clock to locate him. Skye is their only way in — pushing the team to their limits when the entire plan turns upside-down.
Still photos and a preview for the episode also focus on the former van-denizen and dubiously loyal Skye, who has also been dubbed an “asset” by Agent Coulson. Another sneak peek released earlier this week showed her first training session with the unfazed (and sweaty) Agent Ward.
In other news, a new summary has been released for an upcoming episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Set to air on Oct. 22, the episode will be titled “Girl in the Flower Dress” and also seems to focus on the semi-reformed hacker.
An elusive girl in a flower dress may hold the key to the mystery that brings Coulson and team to Asia to rescue a young man with an unusual and dangerous power. Meanwhile, Skye has a secret that jeopardizes her relationship with the team right when they need her most.
This week, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 3, “The Asset” will air tomorrow night at 8 p.m. on ABC.
