With previews of Frozen on Broadway beginning Thursday, Disney has unveiled one of the brand new songs penned for the live musical.

Elsa has a new ballad that’s pretty damn good. “Monster” finds the Queen of Arendelle wondering if her powers make her good or evil. According to the New York Times, where the video premiered, Elsa “sings at a moment of high crisis: afraid of the damage caused by her magical power to create ice and snow, she has isolated herself atop the North Mountain, but her flight has left her kingdom in eternal winter, and a hostile group of townspeople is arriving to confront her.”

Backed up by a small orchestra and a group of male background singers for this video shot at New York City’s Gotham Hall, Caissie Levy’s performance is heartfelt and powerful.

There’s a particularly poignant moment in the song where “Elsa” looks to her parents for advice. This should be a particularly touching part of the performance since her parents are deceased.

Frozen on Broadway’s original songs were penned by the original film’s songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. They’re also at work on that Frozen sequel.

The Broadway show opens on March 22. Disney will release three more original songs from the show in the coming weeks — stay tuned!
