Here are the Oscar 2017 nominees in major categories. Find out who’s in contention for Best Picture, Director, Actor and Actress, and much more.

Did Deadpool sneak its way into the Best Picture category, Fury Road style? Did the Academy recognize the criminally snubbed Hidden Figures and A Monster Calls? Was La La Land nominated in every single category? Is Moonlight getting the recognition it deserves?

These are just some of the many questions we has ahead of the 2017 Oscars nominations, which were announced Tuesday morning.

To the surprise of no one, La La Land leads the field with 14 nominations — which in fact puts it on level with Titanic and All About Eve for most nominations by a single movie in Oscars history!

In this year’s race, Moonlight and Arrival are tied for #2 with eight nods each, with Hacksaw Ridge, Lion and Manchester By the Sea getting six apiece.

Perhaps the most controversial nomination was Mel Gibson’s nom for Best Director (for Hacksaw Ridge) — do you think he deserves to win?

In the snubs category, we might note that Taraji P. Henson did not pick up her much-deserved Best Actress nod for Hidden Figures (although Octavia Spencer, who won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2012 for her role in The Help, picked up a Supporting Actress nomination for the same movie). A Monster Calls, generally considered an overlooked masterpiece (at least if you ask yours truly), surely deserved a Visual Effects nomination, but was unfortunately not included in that category.

Deadpool, the dark horse of this Oscars race, also failed to get any recognition from the Academy — although don’t worry, the movie has plenty of accolades to its name:
