Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have ended one of the most successful partnerships in Hollywood. Starting with Batman Begins in 2005, and ending with Man of Steel this year, the two companies will no longer be working together to bring blockbusters to the big screen.

Legendary Pictures, which was founded by Thomas Tull in 2000 joined up with Warner Bros. in 2005 to bring us some of the best films of the last eight years.

There’s been talk that the two companies would be parting ways this year, but it’s finally official that Legendary Pictures has moved on and is currently in talks with multiple studios which include Sony, Universal, Lionsgate, and Fox.

The production partnership has been very successful together and have brought us some incredible movies in their eight years together. Some of the films they’ve released together include Batman Begins, 300, The Dark Knight, The Hangover, Inception, The Dark Knight Rises, and most recently director Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel.

It’s been reported by Variety that the reason behind the split is that Legendary CEO Thomas Tull wishes to have more creative control, which is said to be the reason why Tull will be looking for a company that wishes to have more of an equal role.

Warner Bros. is massive, and they know that they will have no problems financing and distributing films on their own, as seen with the Harry Potter franchise.

Legendary Pictures will most likely be looking to partner up with a company that is willing to hang back, and let them have a bit more breathing room than Warner Bros. would allow.

With a major company like Warner Bros. we imagine it would be difficult to make creative decisions as they’re an enormous machine, which brings tentpole films to theaters across the globe.

Legendary’s CEO is reportedly hoping to have a deal finished with their new partner by the fourth of July weekend, just a few days before their next major release, which is director Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim.
