Walt Disney Parks and Resorts chairman Tom Staggs announced Friday afternoon that the first Frozen ride is in development.

The yet-to-be-named Frozen ride will be built in Epcot’s Norway Pavillion and replace the existing Maelstrom attraction.

Staggs said that the ride will take guests “to Arendelle and immerse them in many of their favorite moments and music from the film.”

“The pavilion will also include a royal greeting location where Anna and Elsa can meet our guests,” Staggs said on the Disney Parks Blog. “We think these Frozen elements are great compliments to the Norway Pavilion, which showcases the country and region that inspired the film.”

Frozen’s world was inspired by Norway, hence the decision to place the attraction in the country’s pavilion at Epcot.

In addition to the ride, Anna and Elsa will be appearing during Walt Disney World’s holiday festivities. Queen Elsa will “use her powers to transform Cinderella Castle into an ice palace every night starting in early November.” Your favorite characters will also be appearing in “Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas Time Parade.”

No concept art for the Frozen attraction was revealed, but Staggs did offer this concept art for the night time show at the Magic Kingdom:

Disney announced earlier this month that a Frozen short film is in the works and will debut in early 2015.

An opening date for the Frozen ride at Epcot was not revealed today.
