The third Walking Dead spinoff has found one of its leads from the TV Land series, Younger, in Nico Tortorella.

The Walking Dead franchise is in the middle of some serious expansion, with a Rick Grimes movie heading our way and a third spinoff in the works. And there is some big news in the TWD world as the third, still-untitled spinoff just found its lead in Younger star Nico Tortorella.

According to Deadline, Tortorella’s character is named Felix, and is “an honorable man of his word who isn’t afraid to fight for others’ safety and acceptance.” The series has already begun production in the Richmond, Virginia area.

This new spinoff has the potential to be a really fascinating one. While both The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead mainly focused on the lives of adults living through the zombie apocalypse, this new show will focus on the lives of the first generation of kids and teens coming of age in this new world.

The TWD universe has always explored the idea of changing and evolving morality and right and wrong in the face of the end of the world, but exploring how young people process and adapt to this world will be a fascinating piece of that puzzle. Growing up in the zombie apocalypse will change everyone, and some of these teens will become heroes and others will become villains.

However, while this is an exciting development for Walking Dead fans, if you’re a fan of Younger, this news might be a bit of a concern to you, but never fear. Though Tortorella is going to be one of the leads for this new Walking Dead series, taping shouldn’t conflict with their Younger duties, so Tortorella’s character Josh isn’t about to leave our lives anytime soon. Thank goodness.

This new spinoff is set to air on AMC in the spring of 2020. Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who co-created the series with Scott Gimple, will direct the series. Matt Negrete is serving as showrunner.
