The Walking Dead spinoff has cast its first two actors for the pilot, which begins shooting very soon.

Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey have joined the yet-to-be-titled Walking Dead spinoff as the son and daughter of a guidance counselor, who will be the female lead.

Today’s report also unveils a couple other interesting tidbits: The show is currently using the working title “Cobalt,” Dillane’s character is “battling a drug problem,” and Carey’s character is “ambitious”.

The pilot episode will be directed by Adam Davidson, who’s directed episodes of several television shows including Community, Hell on Wheels, and Parenthood.

Readers will recognize Dillane from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince when he played Tom Riddle Jr. in memory sequences.

Several spinoff character details first surfaced in September via a casting call, but today’s character profiles don’t align with those previously released.

We still don’t know much about The Walking Dead spinoff’s storyline other than the fact that it will be taking place outside of Atlanta with an entirely new set of characters.

According to an announcement by AMC in September, the spinoff pilot is supposed to begin shooting by the end of this year. But with the holidays approaching and only two actors cast (that we know of), the show may be waiting until early 2015 to starting rolling the cameras.

We’re excited to see what Robert Kirkman and crew have in store for the spinoff. The biggest question is: Where will the show be set? A location that is dramatically different from Atlanta, Georgia could open up a wide range of refreshing visual and storytelling opportunities. These changes will help separate the new show from Rick’s story.

Expect more casting updates and (hopefully) plot details soon!

Update: The original version of this story incorrectly identified Dillane and Carey’s roles.
