AMC’s Walking Dead spinoff set in Los Angeles has found the actress who will star opposite Cliff Curtis.

Kim Dickens, who’s best known to pop culture enthusiasts this year for her role as Gone Girl character Detective Rhonda Boney, the person investigating the disappearance of Amy Dunne, will play the zombie drama spinoff’s female lead.

According to casting reports over the past few weeks, Dickens and Curtis are in a relationship and work at the same school when the zombie apocalypse, the same one depicted in the original Walking Dead, breaks out. Dickens plays a guidance counselor while Curtis is a teacher.

Dickens’ character is the mother of two children from a previous marriage, who we learned earlier this month will be played by Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey.

The spinoff is currently without a name, but AMC is developing it under the title Cobalt.

The show will begin shooting sometime in early 2015, and many expect the show to premiere later in the year.

The Walking Dead spinoff appears to have finished casting the core group just in time before the holiday break. We expect many additional actors and actresses to join the production in the weeks ahead.

Dickens is also known for her recurring role in Sons of Anarchy (which just finished), as well as roles in Treme and Friday Night Lights.

Meanwhile, the “original” Walking Dead resumes Sunday, February 8 with the mid-season 5 premiere. It will be followed by the series premiere of AMC’s Breaking Bad spinoff Better Call Saul.
