As we await The Walking Dead’s mid-season premiere in February, we have a couple of updates concerning the back-half of season 6.

First, AMC used their latest televised Walking Dead marathon to unveil a new trailer for season 6B. The 30-second preview offers a few terrifying glimpses into the episodes ahead, including an unfortunate reminder that Negan is on his way (played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan):

“I thought living behind these walls was possible. I was wrong,” Rick (Andrew Lincoln) says in the preview. Not only is this line referring to the difficulties he’s faced within Alexandria, but it also reminds us that threats from outside of the safe zone are very present. Remember, Rick is currently dealing with wolves, walkers, saviors, and other colonies.

Speaking of other groups, on Monday TV Line revealed that actor Xander Berkeley — who we learned last year had joined The Walking Dead — will be playing Gregory, “the leader of the Hilltop Colony, a coward to the core and a total nightmare for Maggie and Rick.” If Robert Kirkman’s comic series is any indication, Gregory will be up to no good in season 6B: he’s known for poisoning Maggie and betraying Rick to Negan.

In case you need a reminder: The Walking Dead’s mid-season 6 finale killed off Deanna and sent Rick and his loved ones running for safety under the cloak of walker guts. Check out our full recap for more about what happened during the very messy episode.

Alexandria is clearly in worse shape than ever before, and things are only going to get worse before they get better due to characters like Gregory. We’ll watch the fireworks continue when the show resumes on Sunday, February 14.
