You’ve been missing the humans and zombies of The Walking Dead since March. Today you’re in luck: Season 5 premieres tonight!

The Walking Dead season 5, episode 1 airs at 9 p.m. eastern/pacific on AMC and will surely pull in a huge audience of eager viewers. Last year’s season 4 premiere was watched by 16.1 million people. Will season 5’s launch be able to top that? Surely viewership will be high because many people will be eager to see how Rick gets his way at Terminus.

In tonight’s episode of The Walking Dead, the story line will be starting exactly where we left off at the end of the season 4 finale. Rick and company are all being held prisoner in a train car at Terminus, a “sanctuary” made up of cannibals.

AMC has already released the first few minutes of the episode. Watch it now:

Somehow Rick and co. will be breaking out – or released? – and confronting Gareth. A trailer for season 5 shows that the characters will be heading to Washington D.C. to search for the cure to the infection:

Stills from the episode depict many of your favorite characters either at Terminus or on the road. One photo seems to suggest that Carol, Tyreese, and Judith will be on the road to Terminus still. We imagine that Judith will finally be reunited with Rick and Carl this episode, and we can’t wait for that special moment.

Earlier this week AMC announced that The Walking Dead has already been renewed for season 6. The news comes as the cable channel also prepares a Walking Dead “companion series” (spin off) which is set in a different part of the country.
