Production has begun on The Walking Dead season 5, and like they did last year, AMC has marked the occasion with the season’s first still.

The photo depicts Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln) poking his head out of the holding cell/train car that he was placed in with his friends during the season 4 finale by Gareth, head of Terminus.

Presumably this scene takes place very early on during The Walking Dead season 5 premiere episode, because if Rick is trying to sneak out of the train car, then he wants to get a better handle on the place or speak to Gareth.

Speaking to Larry King last month, showrunner Scott M. Gimple said that the show will pick up the action in season 5. “The story that we’re telling demands it. We’re not going to shy away from character, but the balance will be a little more towards action,” he said.

The Walking Dead season 4 ended with Rick telling his friends that they’re messing with the wrong people. Check out our recap of the episode and to discuss it with fellow fans.

Season 5 is expected to premiere this October on AMC. It will likely have a big presence at San Diego Comic-Con this July like it does every year.

Last week the show added its first new actor: Seth Gilliam. We speculated that he may play the comic book character Father Gabriel.

The Walking Dead has also promoted the characters of Gareth, Tara, and Rosita to series regulars for the new season, meaning you can expect them more regularly in the new episodes.
