Though the show is now airing on AMC, filming and casting on The Walking Dead season 5 is still underway.

Today we’ve learned that season 5 of the hit zombie drama has cast Alexandra Breckenridge in a new role.

Details surrounding the role Breckenridge will take on are unknown at this time, but a casting call for “Samantha” describes her as “an attractive, strong, smart, charming and articulate woman with a vulnerable side. She’s a mother with a bohemian spirit, and a talented artist,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The actress will reportedly recur in season 5 and has the chance of being promoted to series regular for season 6. This suggests that her role may be a potentially important one to Rick and company.

The name “Samantha” may not be the name Breckenridge has on the show. AMC will frequently use different names in casting calls to keep future plot lines secret. The show is well known for keeping all future story lines and characters top secret until they wish to reveal something.

One newcomer whose role we do know: Seth Gilliam, who will play Father Gabriel later this season.

Breckenridge played housekeeper Young Moira on American Horror Story: Asylum.

The Walking Dead season 5, episode 2 airs Sunday, October 19 at 9 p.m. eastern/pacific on AMC. Check out our recap of last week’s episode to see yourself for what’s ahead!
