The first synopsis for The Walking Dead season 4B suggests (unsurprisingly) that things are only going to get worse without the protection of the prison.

The Walking Dead season 4 resumes new episodes beginning Sunday, February 9 on AMC, and information about the forthcoming plot has been scarce since we’re still a ways away from the premiere.

The synopsis says, “Following the devastating events of the season finale, Rick and the group are still reeling from the loss of their home, family, and friends. With the destruction of the prison, we see the group of survivors broken apart and sent on divergent paths, unsure of everyone else’s fate.”

It continues, “What was a challenging life behind fences and walls grows that much more perilous and precious as they are exposed to new dangers, new enemies, and heartbreaking choices. They will have their faith thoroughly tested — a faith that breaks some of them and redeems others.”

A promotional poster for the second half of The Walking Dead season 4 depicts Carl in the foreground and Rick in the background with the slogan “Don’t Look Back.”

The Walking Dead’s midseason finale – which aired in December – included a trailer for the new episodes and depicted all of the survivors on the run. Though some of them may be on their own, we know that Rick and Carl stick together after the supposed death of their daughter/sister Judith. A clip from the next episode shows Carl leading on some zombies (he’s clearly grown into his own).

Season 4B begins Sunday, February 9, at 9 p.m. eastern/pacific on AMC. It will be followed by new episodes of The Talking Dead hosted by Chris Hardwick.
