Last night’s episode of The Walking Dead season 4 saw a group of survivors make it to Terminus, but what is this place and who will survive?
Promotional posters for The Walking Dead season finale focus on Carl, Rick, Michonne, and Carol as they get closer to mysterious safe house that has been lurking in the background for the back half of season 4. “Who will arrive?” asks one depicting Rick, Michonne, and Carl. “Who will survive?” asks the one with Carol. Historically, The Walking Dead kills off one of its main characters at the end of a season. We assume no one who’s made it to Terminus will die, because it would blow the place’s cover of being a safe place and viewers would assume it’s another Woodbury. More on that in a moment.
The people who haven’t made it to Terminus yet include Rick, Carl, Michonne, Carol, Daryl, Tyreese, and Beth. At the end of episode 15 we saw Daryl walk over the candy wrapper tossed on the ground by Carl, which suggests they all may soon catch up with one another.
Based on what’s happening to each character at the moment, the person who has the best shot of dying is Beth given we have no idea where she is or who took her. Losing Beth for good would be a very emotional moment for Daryl who has come to greatly enjoy her company.
A scene for next week’s season 4 finale shows three aforementioned characters working on a trap when they hear someone screaming for help. Carl runs to the person in need:
Rick’s comments about traps may foreshadow what the people of Terminus are up to: The place may be home to people who hunt humans for food. The biggest sign supporting this theory came at the end of Sunday’s episode when those who arrived at Terminus were greeted by a woman named Mary who was cooking meat at the welcoming gate.
The big questions are: Do they cook anyone who arrives? Will they select a person or two out of the group for meat? Could those who run Terminus ask our humans to kill or be killed?
Regardless of these answers, there’s a slim chance that Terminus is a simple safe house, so the season finale should offer some big surprises about their true intentions when “A” airs Sunday, March 30 at 9 p.m. eastern on AMC.
