After setting an all-time cable record over the past week, it feels like all of America will be tuning into The Walking Dead season 4, episode 2 tonight.

The Walking Dead season 4 premiere episode on October 13 included a great cliffhanger in which we saw a new outbreak take down Carl’s friend Patrick played by Vincent Martella.

We interviewed the actor earlier this week about the plot twist. “It’s a tough thing to deal with because he reacted pretty quickly and they’re not in a position to get immediate medical attention – especially on something of this nature,” Martella told us on Monday. “It’s not like putting a bandage over a wound, it’s much more serious than that. And you’re not sure how this thing spreads or where it came from or really how to get rid of it. You’re not sure of anything at this point. So it’s a very unique problem that I feel is extremely realistic to the situation.”

We’ll see the survivors deal with this new infection in episode 2 which airs at 9 p.m. eastern/pacific on AMC. Reads the episode’s synopsis, “The group faces a new enemy; Rick and the others fight to protect their hard-won livelihood.”

Two photos from “Infected” show Michonne riding horseback as a zombie comes up from behind her, and Glenn on the run with a blade in what appears to be a tense moment.

The premiere episode of The Walking Dead had a great sequence in a food store but was otherwise a little short of fast-paced action. We’re looking forward to more zombie-killing in tonight’s storyline and how the survivors react to Patrick’s sudden departure.

Watch ‘The Walking Dead’ season 4 online

AMC put The Walking Dead season 4 premiere episode online for free viewing, but it’s likely that this won’t happen again. Cable subscribers can watch the show online for no additional cost by visiting AMC’s site and using their cable login credentials. It will also be available via OnDemand on Monday, but is not available on services like Hulu.

Following tonight’s airing we’ll have up a recap of everything that went down.
