AMC has released synopses for the first four episodes of The Walking Dead season 4, and each offers very light spoilers in previewing what’s ahead.

The Walking Dead season 4 synopses are as follows:

Episode 1 — “30 Days Without an Accident”

“The group lives an ideal life at the prison, and strives to hold onto humanity.”

Episode 2 — “Infected”

“The group faces a new enemy; Rick and the others fight to protect their hard-won livelihood.”

Episode 3 — “Isolation”

“A group leaves the prison to search for supplies; the remaining members of the group deal with recent losses.”

Episode 4 — “Indifference”

“The supply mission faces hurdles; the situation at the prison worsens.”

The titles and sentence-long descriptions offer a couple clues into what’s ahead. The title of episode 2, “Infected,” could mean a couple of major things: Will some of the humans become infected by the zombies? Are the zombies infected with a new power that makes them a bigger threat to the humans? Are the humans suddenly infected with something not necessarily given to them by the zombies?

Also particularly interesting is the description for episode 3 which says that the humans deal “with recent losses.” That plot point suggests that some of the humans will die. Alternatively, the recent losses could refer to things like food or other supplies. Given the title of episode 2, we’re guessing the former theory is more likely.

The Walking Dead season 4 kicks off Sunday, October 13. We know for sure that a big aspect of the upcoming episodes will be the zombies’ new ability to break through the prison fences. It remains to be seen how the humans – namely Rick – will decide to deal with this major new problem.
