Just weeks before the first trailer is expected to debut at San Diego Comic-Con, the first poster for The Walking Dead season 6 teases an interesting premise.

The new Walking Dead season 6 artwork, seen above, puts Rick and Morgan — the latter of whom found his way to Alexandria at the end of season 5 — head to head as members of the community surround them.

We can’t say for sure, but it looks like there may be a battle brewing between Team Rick and, apparently, Team Morgan. Rick’s long-time friends stand behind their leader as Alexandria residents including Aaron, Deanna, and Father Gabriel stand behind Morgan.

In the comic series by Robert Kirkman, Alexandria is the location that the survivors remain at for the longest period of time (three years), so it’s possible that season 6 may be set entirely at this sanctuary. The show obviously can’t depict a pleasant life at Alexandria, so a war between Morgan and Rick — two friends — would certainly be an interesting twist to keep the show humming.

AMC announced last week that they are bringing out many cast and crew members to San Diego Comic-Con. Those attending include Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Chandler Riggs, Michael Cudlitz, Lennie James, and Sonequa Martin-Green.

The network has used Comic-Con to unveil each season’s first trailer and premiere date, so we’re expecting the same this year.

The Walking Dead companion series Fear The Walking Dead will also be at SDCC — We expect both shows to unveil lots of new information, so watch this space as we approach the event!
