The Walking Dead has its midseason finale just around the corner, and apparently we’ll be seeing a new character on the show. Creator Robert Kirkman teases it will be someone from the comics. Beware of spoilers!

When Michonne appeared mysteriously at the end of season 2, fans of the comics were thrilled. Michonne becomes such an important character in the print form of The Walking Dead, and her introduction meant a whole new storyline, as well as the potential introduction of other fan favorites from the comics.

Season 3 has also given us the Governor, who is a renowned villain from the comics. Readers didn’t necessarily want to see him, but they were (and still are) interested in seeing how the AMC show carries out his vicious practices in Woodbury.

According to creator and executive producer Robert Kirkman, we will soon be seeing another popular character from the comics on the small screen in The Walking Dead fall finale “Made to Suffer,” which airs December 2.

“There’s a new character added,” he tells Entertainment Weekly. “A big deal fan favorite from the comic book is introduced into the show in this episode, so be on the lookout for that.”

Our hunch? Tyreese will soon be joining the show.

Does that mean we’ll also be seeing Tyreese’s daughter Julie and her boyfriend, Chris?

Tyreese also has romantic ties to both Carol and Michonne, and we wonder if we’ll see him get attached to either (granting that Carol is still alive).

Dalton Ross, who interviewed Kirkman, asked if the new character could be Rick’s right-hand-man Tyreese.

Kirkman’s response:

“I don’t know, man! I don’t know. I got no clue!”

We think you do know, sir. Since reports have surfaced of The Wire actor Chad Coleman being seen in Atlanta, it makes sense that he is our new character, and Coleman certainly has the strong, ex-football player look of Tyreese.

Do you think Tyreese will be our new character?
