Drumming up excitement for the back-half of The Walking Dead season 5, AMC has released a new poster depicting Rick and gang back on the road.

The most prominent part of this new Walking Dead mid-season premiere poster is the map with Abraham’s “the new world’s gonna need Rick Grimes” note which the red head had left for Rick before leaving for D.C. In the background we see Daryl, Michonne, Abraham, Carl, and the rest of the group.

Does this poster offer any clues as to what lies ahead? One could guess that the group will be making their way out into unknown territory again, if the fact that everyone is walking away from the camera is any hint. Perhaps we could also guess that Abraham’s note in the foreground is trying to tell us something. Will they try to head north to see if others are gathering in D.C.? Is Rick poised to become a leader for an even larger group of people?

When The Walking Dead season 5 last aired, the group attempted to rescue Beth. Sadly, she got in a quick fight with Dawn and they both ended up dead. Presumably we’ll see the characters still in a state of mourning when the show returns. Plus, with Eugene having admitted that he doesn’t really know how to cure the zombie infection, the show will need to set up a new path for the humans in the remaining eight episodes. Read our recap of season 5, episode 8 for more about what happened when we last saw the crew!

The Walking Dead season 5 returns on Sunday, February 8. It will be followed by the series premiere of the Breaking Bad spinoff Better Call Saul.
