The CW has announced that its animated Vixen series will get an August premiere and debuted a trailer.

Vixen, the first animated entry in The CW’s DC Comics universe, will premiere on CW Seed — The CW’s digital content hub — on Tuesday, August 25, as per The CW.

Watch the first footage from the series, featuring appearances by The Arrow (Stephen Amell), The Flash (Grant Gustin), and Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes), below:

Megalyn Echikunwoke voices Mari McCable, who Cisco nicknames Vixen in his tradition of naming metahumans (though Mari’s power, as we see in the footage, comes from her totem and not the particle accelerator).

Vixen will air six 30-minute episodes on CW Seed, beginning August 25. Its run will lead up to the premiere of the new seasons of The Flash and Arrow on October 6 and 7 respectively.

The six episodes will tell a single “coming-of-age story,” says executive producer Marc Guggenheim. Mari will discover “a mysterious totem she inherited from her now-deceased parents bestows magical abilities.”

More precisely, the totem “gives her the powers of any animal on Earth.” For example, Vixen “can fly like an eagle, she can have the strength of a gorilla, she can run as fast as a cheetah” with her totem. We see hints of this magical bestowing of powers in the footage above.

It looks as though these powers catch the attention of the Arrow and Flash, as they come to pay her a visit. Mari, though, is in no mood to cooperate with the two heroes and gives them a run — literally — for their money.

Along with the Amell, Gustin, and Valdes lending their voice in the footage above, Emily Bett Rickards (Felicity Smoak) will also appear in the series.
