We’ve told you a couple of times about the upcoming (and well-reviewed) super hero mockumentary Chronicle which hits theaters February 3rd.

With its release imminent, a viral marketing campaign was recently underway where fake people were sent flying through the New York and New Jersey skies (just like the characters in the film).

Below you can see a behind-the-scenes look at how they launched these “people” into the air. The marketing team explained to TechCrunch:

“Since the three main characters of the movie have the ability to fly, we came up with the idea of staging a few “flying people” sightings around NYC. We achieved that illusion by having 3 custom-made aircraft (which were shaped like human beings) fly above designated areas in NYC and NJ.”

We wonder how we’d react to see what appear to be – from a distance – real people flying in the air without any additional equipment.
