Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, and Arthur Darvill spent all day yesterday in New York City’s famous Central Park to film what is likely to be Rory and Amy’s final Doctor Who appearance. Filming took place in three key locations: the rocks by the duck pond, the Bow Bridge that spans the lake, and the Bethesda Fountain Plaza and underpass. *SPOILERS*

The shooting at the rock location was fairly uneventful, just chatter between the Doctor and Amy as they sat on rocks with a picnic basket (see photos here). After filming in that location, they took time out to have some fun with their fans stadium wave-style.

Once filming moved to the Bow Bridge, fans could see a more intense Doctor and Amy who were urgently looking at something in the water below. Matt Smith also got to run around a good deal and was cheered on by the observing fans.

The cast then moved to the nearby Bethesda Fountain which involved more running on Matt Smith’s part, and Arthur Darvill as Rory looking lost, confused, and carrying coffee.

The final sequence shot in the fountain area involved Matt Smith walking to a bench with a paper in his hand looking utterly dejected.

It should be noted that though this was the order the scenes were shot in, it is not necessarily the sequence they will appear in the episode itself.

Today’s filming will feature River Song, as a casting call went out two days ago for a double for Alex Kingston who could drive a stick shift. So it looks like today we will have a street scene.
