Divergent trilogy author Veronica Roth will read chapter one of Allegiant starting just as the book hits store shelves.

In a feature on Publisher’s Weekly, Roth reveals that at 11:59 PM eastern on October 21 a pre-recorded video of herself will go up on the book series’ website and let viewers watch the author read chapter 1 of Allegiant. Roth describes it as “a little taste” of what’s to come in the rest of the book which she also reveals begins from the perspective of Tris.

We learned in July that Allegiant will be from the perspectives of both Tris and Four, which is a first for the trilogy. The two previous books have only been from the viewpoint of the former.

Publisher’s Weekly notes that many book stores plan to have midnight release parties, and HarperCollins has sent out kits for booksellers to help celebrate.

There’s just over a week to go until Allegiant is released to the public, and last week we told you that the book is impressively outselling The Hunger Games finale Mockingjay “nearly five to one.” The book’s early success may be thanks to the fact that the Divergent movie has been busy promoting itself as we approach its March release. The book to film adaptation will star Shailene Woodley and Theo James in the roles of Tris and Four.

Do you hope to attend an ‘Allegiant’ midnight release party?
